About TankAndFin

TankAndFin helps people set up and keep freshwater aquariums: tanks and kits, filters, heaters, test kits and the routine care that keeps fish healthy.

Where our information comes from

• Water quality and fish care come from university extension services, especially the University of Florida's IFAS fact sheets, plus Purdue and Penn State.
• Health and the environment come from federal sources: the CDC on germs from fish, the EPA on chlorine and chloramine, and USGS and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on not releasing aquarium pets.
• Product specs come from makers' official pages (Aqueon, Fluval, API, Seachem, EHEIM and others) and retail listings, and we say so (“per the listing”).

What we don't do

We don't test products, and we don't invent ratings or scores. We're not veterinarians: for sick fish, ask an aquatic vet or a knowledgeable local store.
