Quick answerBoth brands sell complete glass tank kits; the differences are in the filter and whether a heater is in the box. At 10 gallons, the Aqueon SmartClean kit includes a preset 78°F heater and thermometer, while the Tetra LED 10 doesn't list one. At 20 and 29 gallons, Tetra's kits include heaters, and the 29 uses a Whisper PF 30 power filter. Aqueon says fish and gravel are sold separately for its rectangle kits, and neither Tetra listing includes gravel.

These are glass all-in-one kits. Here's what each includes, per the listings and Aqueon's product pages. We haven't tested them.

Either way

Add a test kit and conditioner, and cycle the tank before adding fish. Aqueon's own water-quality article says letting a tank run for 24 to 48 hours "is not cycling."
